Hello,

I’ve tryed to use Letsencrypt to cert my freepbx. DNS record is ok (double checked). In System Admin > Port Management , Admin port is on 8080 and LetsEncrypt is enabled on 80.

Creating a new request from Admin > Certificate Management send request , but after a couple of minutes goes to blank page, and stop. Returning to certificate management there’s no new cert in table and nothing has been applied to https.

Freepbx version is : 15.0.16.75

Any advice?

"I'm-sorry, an-error-has-occurred" for internal calls (after migration from Elastix to FreePBX)

Hi,

I’m in the process of migrating an old phone system (Elastix 2.3.0) to FreePBX 15. I used the FreePBX Distro Conversion Tool for the migration and it seems to have worked (I can see all trunks, extensions, etc…).

But I can’t make internal calls on the new system (external calls work however). I’m getting a voice saying “I’m-sorry, an-error-has-occurred”. So I would like to identify this error.

Here is the Asterisk log when I try for example to call extension 236 from extension 235:

Edit voicemail greetings from UCP

Can anyone attach a screen shot or explain of what the interface for uploading a voicemail from the UCP is supposed to look like. I thought I remembered using it in the past and having a point/click interface for dropping a voice file. However, I just logged in to try to change the voicemail for another user and it seems to be gone. The user management options for “voicemail greetings” are set to be allowed.

Hi,

We use the responsive firewall but we would like to whitelist some public IP’s that
will always go around the responsive firewall. These public IP’s should only be able to use port 5060 since these are IP’s of home workers phones.

I’m trying to restore a full Freepbx 14 backup onto a new Freepbx 15 server. The restore does not move past 99.98%. There are not errors messages.

The modules on both systems are up to date.

Any suggestions on why a restore would hang at Uploading 99.98%

Thanks,

I tried to install core because the system would not reload, with an error of 255 but no explanation. There was also a cronmanager error. I yum updated, and got more errors and was advised by the system to install the core through fwconsole. My core and framework grep is:

| core | 14.0.1.25 | Disabled; Pending upgrade to 13.0.131.28 | GPLv3+ |
| framework | 13.0.197.28 | Enabled

The system is not working (it has been active for a couple of years. No calls, no web GUI, just putty and Winscp.

Disable Port Conflict Check?

@awh wrote:

Is there an easy way to disable the SIP/PJSIP port conflict check?

public function validateNoPortConflicts() {

 // Get all of our binds
 $binds = $this->getBinds(true);

 $allports = array("tcp" => array(), "udp" => array());
 foreach ($binds as $driver => $listenarr) {
 // We explicitly don't care about interfaces. Having
 // chansip on 5060 on int1 and pjsip on 5060 on int2
 // is just going to be a nightmare. We asked getBinds
 // to return a flattened array, so we just disregard
 // the interface

Having chansip on 5060 on int1 and pjsip on 5060 on int2 is literally the only way that I can get NTT’s (Japanese national telco) VoIP service working. In the past, I’ve just commented out that check and it’s worked well, but I would love to not get the message about how I’ve tampered with the files, and I’d like to be a bit more upgrade-proof.

At the very least, can I somehow exclude Sipsettings.class.php from the tamper check?

Calls over IPSec are interrupted

@xentity wrote:

Dear FreePBX pros,

we have to enable SIP calls through a IPSec VPN tunnel. The registration works fine, incoming calls work fine, but outgoing calls from this phone are not fine. They are interrupted after 32 seconds.

The trunk is fully working, because if I use the phone direct next to the FreePBX server, it works well. The interruption happens also with the Echo Test (*43) .

What I do not understand is the IP 80.133.182.144. Since this is the echo test call, there shouldn’t be any public IP. The other strange part is that I do not know this IP address. It is neither the public branch nor the public pbx IP. My configuration goal is, that everything (SIP as well as RTP) is going via the pbx01.

Any hints from your side?

Struggling setting up my first phone/handset

@Nexar wrote:

Hi all, I’m new to Asterisk and Freepbx. I just installed and set up Freepbx 15.0.16.75, set up my trunk, my basic inbound and outbound rules and am now stuck on users and extensions.

I set up an extension (pjsip) , and in the process it asks me to set up a user I called reception.

When I try program my phone, registration fails. My Asterisk logs show the following:

Request 'REGISTER' from '"reception" <sip:reception@192.168.0.79>' failed for '192.168.0.100:5060' (callid: 3600513255@192_168_0_100) - No matching endpoint found
Request 'REGISTER' from '"reception" <sip:reception@192.168.0.79>' failed for '192.168.0.100:5060' (callid: 3600513255@192_168_0_100) - Failed to authenticate

I’m a little unsure how to interpret the error. Do I have to do additional setup of endpoints? Where do I set it up?

Am I maybe using the incorrect username and password strings from users or extensions? What SHOULD I be using as they both seem to have username and password/secret values and not sure which I should be using.

Thank you in advance.

Firewall no longer starts on reboot

For at least a week now (since I noticed), more than 50% of our 120+ FreePBX machines fail to start the firewall after a reboot. The only time consuming fix so far has been to logon to the web UI of each server, disable the firewall and enable it again in order to get the service started. This is happening both on FreePBX 14 and FreePBX 15, both of which are fully up to date (both in terms of yum and modules).

This is what the firewall shows after reboot (even several hours or days after boot):

Firewall Registered Endpoints

I work for a school district that has about 13 sites, that just recently deployed FreePBX and most our site are on a class A network (10.0.0.0\8) except for one that is on a class B (172.20.16.0\24). The class B phones are showing up under registered endpoint under Firewall. Which functionally is fine but I will check Registered Endpoint every once in a while just to make sure we aren’t getting any weird outside IP registering to my box.

My question is how do I get the class B network to not show up under registered endpoints similar to my class A network does not show up in there. I have added 172.20.16.0\24 as Local (local trusted traffic) on the Firewall Network tab for Known Network Definitions

Thanks in advance.

Strange issue

We have another SIP trunk by Nextiva. When the call comes in from Nextiva trunk, it hits the IVR. If the caller press the IVR option 1 or 2, the call should ring a ring group. When one of the ring group member picks up the call, the call drops immediately. However, if the caller dials the extension number directly, the call connects fine, no drop call. No idea what cause the call to be dropped with the ring group. Here is the log.

UCP SMS widget not interactive - RESOLVED

I previously wrote that the UCP SMS widget was not interactive. By that I meant that the widget would let me SEND texts. But, I had to close the widget and then re-open it, in order to see any REPLY texts. I have now resolved that problem.

To fix this, go to Admin --> User Management --> Edit User - UCP --> SIPStation SMS

Under Allow SMS, toggle it from “Inherit” to “yes”.

The SMS widget window will now display both SENDS and RECEIVES.

Incoming Calls rings once then hangs up

Hello,
I inherited a VOIP system at one of my clients. I have limited experience with VOIP and FreePBX. It had a failing Asterisk NOW PBX server. The SIP trunk comes in on a dedicated line from their ISP through an ESBC 9378-4b Session Border Controller. I have replaced the old PBX with a new Sangoma 40 PBX. I have setup the trunk and in/out routes, extensions, IVR… etc.
I have several issues:

 1. The trunk says it’s online. However, when I dial the main DID it rings once then hangs up.

 2. The original system had the phones on a VLAN 100. The old server had eth0 set to 192.168.1.7 and eth1 was set to 192.168.100.3. When I came on the scene eth1 was not plugged in. So I don’t know how the Digium D70 phones were getting their config. I tried adding a second interface on the Sangoma for the 192.168.100.x network and when I did I lost DNS resolution and internet access and I could not access the web GUI. Not sure where to go here. How do I get the phones to connect to the PBX if I can’t get a connection to the VLAN. Can I create a VLAN interface on the same port. of the Sangoma PBX.

 3. The last thing I notice is that the Router onsite did not have a VLAN 100 setup on it so I suspect whoever set the old system up was just setting static IPs on everything.

Fail2Ban & Securing PBX behind router with port forwarding

@jklin wrote:

I am considering exposing my PBX extensions to the internet to allow offsite-colleagues to remotely register their softphones and make&receive calls.

The PBX is running in our small office, which uses a router (specifically AVM FritzBox) to connect to the internet. To make extensions accessible, I would need to create a port forwarding for SIP registration (port 5060) and RTP (e.g. 10000 - 10250).

At the same time, I am concerned about being hacked/hijacked and would appreciate feedback on the following:

 • Fail2Ban seems like a must to slow down and prevent brute force attacks. However, with port-forwarding, will fail2ban not block my router rather than the actual intruder’s IP?
 • would it be advised to also change the default 5060 port to the outside world, e.g. rather than 5060 (router) to 5060 (pbx) use 5555 on the router, but leave 5060 on the pbx? Is that a good or a bad idea?
 • I would perhaps want to block outgoing calls to cost-intensive numbers (e.g. premium numbers, certain countries, …). Is there a way to configure call routes so that these numbers can be dialed, but require a pin code to authorize?
 • I would not expose my admin UI or ssh to the internet

Any other suggestions for added security?

New to FPBX. Cant dial out. Not sure if dial plan or trunk setup?

@Nexar wrote:

Hi, as title says, I can’t dial out and am unsure how to interpret the logs as I’m unsure what a successful connection should look like and where mine is going wrong. I can receive incoming calls that pass my IVR and eventually reach my reception endpoint. When I try dial the call fails, but not sure if it’s a trunk or dial plan issue.

Numbers have been altered for privacy for this post.

My trunk number is 0211234522 (as colloquially dialed). My reception number is the same with an extra 0 at the end 02112345220 (I maybe should not have gone this confusion prone route, but oh well)

Trying to dial out to 0601234503

My logs when a call is attempted:
